Annodized Aluminum

Annodized aluminum comes in many forms. Note that Al is oftened alloyed with other elements. Check with the manufacturer to determine the exact content of your Al. The density of pure aluminum is 2.71 g/cm3. Bare aluminum can be silvery-white to gray depending on surface roughness.

These are my disorganized notes regarding the Einscan HX software.

Black and dark surfaces require the laser.

Scanning at 0.1mm creates too many points, just use 0.5mm.

Einscan calls a scan a “project”. Scans (projects) are grouped together in Project Groups. When scanning even a small part, expect to do several scans. In other words, create several projects then align the projects before generating the mesh.

Epilog Laser Cleaning The Trays

Until further notice we will clean the epilog laser trays outside in the back yard.

We will exit using the doors behind the sawmill. Be careful when walking beside the sawmill - it has many pointy parts that can catch on the trays or your clothes.

Epilog Laser Focus Instructions

Use the Cutting Table

The Epilog laser focus is calibrated for the cutting table. I have not tested it with the engraving table.

Use Manual Focus

Usually proper focus is important to achieve the desired results. After some tests, I found that manual focus is much more reliable than autofocus on the Fusion Pro 48. I recommend everyone use the manual focus method. If you don't remember how to use manual focus ask someone for help or message me on WhatsApp to m…

General Tips about Foamboard

Expect the board to have a warp in it. If you put it on the table such that the bottom of the warp is in the middle of the board and the top edges are elevated then it is easier to tack down.

Avoid PETG Oozing Problems

When I print using PETG filament on the Prusa MK3S+ some PETG always oozes out of the extruder while the bed is heating. I think this happens because the extruder heats up very quickly but the bed is much slower. So some melted PETG oozes out of the extruder while it is waiting for the bed. See photos below.

Printing with PETG

ALWAYS CHECK THE LABEL ON THE SPOOL. IF YOU PRINT PETG WITH PLA SETTINGS YOU MAY DAMAGE THE PRINTER

ALWAYS USE THE TEXTURED SHEET WITH PETG

Grey Bruce Makers now has PETG filament available for 3d printing on the Prusa MK3S+. Please read this page at Prusament.com explaining PETG uses and properties.
